The Rebbetzin's Ramblings
This week we are packing. The hard part, of course, is not the packing or
even the unpacking. It's the deciding. What to pack, what to dump. What
to give away, what to throw away. What to fix, what to give up on. But
when I gave away 5 garbage bags full of stuff, when I threw away even more
garbage bags full of trash, I had to paraphrase my favorite Zen Shorts
story: Why have I been carrying all this stuff around?? And now, I feel
cleansed. It's cathartic. Honestly, at the risk of sounding weird, I even
feel this way when I see others getting rid of junk. When I see stuff on
people's tree lawns, I say, "Aah... someone's lighter today." Whether
it's external stuff... or internal stuff. The hardest part is deciding.
But what a freedom.
