Flying High!

Flying High!

Flying high!! That's how Ruchi and I feel.
We had a huge week. It began with the 8th day of Chanukah. The next day was my (milestone:) birthday. The rest of the week was filled with gearing up for and riding the wave of our huge, successful campaign, as well as our upcoming Israel mission (we leave on Sunday, G-d willing!).
A common thread throughout the week: the incredible value and importance of every Mitzvah, every kind word, every donation and every effort expended. Each one is invaluable and pays off huge dividends.
For the bookends of the week, Chanukah and our Israel trip: from the single candle that we lit on Chanukah, to the full, bright Menorah on the 8th day. For each of the 5 Bnei Mitzvah young men and women traveling to Israel with us to celebrate this important Jewish milestone, to every one of the family members of our community joining us for this unforgettable experience. Every flame and every soul represents something meaningful. The Talmud says that the flame represents the neshamah, the soul, and that lighting Shabbat and Chanukah candles is a "segulah," a positive merit for every one of our children!
For the middle of the week, my birthday and our #200k4JFX campaign: from the "HBTY" of Facebook to the beautiful, elaborate birthday cake that my sister baked and delivered, and every text message, smile and well wishes in between, my birthday was made to feel very special. From the lead matching donors, to every one of the 240 community donors, as well as all of the volunteers who advocated for us, we feel tremendously grateful to each and every one of you for your support, generosity, friendship and advocacy.
Every flame counts. Every mitzvah. Every dollar. Every soul.
Shabbat shalom!
