To get a break from our hard work
We planned a nice vacation
The stress of leaving home was such
it gave me consternation
Instead I tried to work as well
and left on a work-ation
A business trip felt justified
with righteous indignation
The fallout upon my return
was hardly worth the trade
I wondered what I'd gained, then,
for the price that I had paid.
So next we piled all the kids
Inside our gold Toyota
and plied them well with food and drinks
and even lots of soda.
We hit the turnpike joyfully
embarked on "relocation"
"Family time!" "Togetherness!"
(In my imagination.)
So this time we are sitting tight
Enjoying a staycation.
With kids in school and schedules light
Now THAT is relaxation.
