Jake's Ramble

by Jake Sonkin, age 12

I love going to Sunday school at JFX. My mom and I started going to JFX Sunday school last year.  I used to go to a different Sunday school that I disliked VERY much.  I wasn’t learning anything and I wasn’t having any fun.

When my mom told me about JFX, I was very wary.  I thought, “How could any Sunday school be fun?”

When I arrived at JFX, I knew right away this was an extremely different Sunday school.  We had a small class and a very great teacher.  Rabbi Helman taught me a lot about Judaism and in a really fun way.  I was excited to learn more.  Now I look forward to every Sunday and never complain about going to Sunday school like I used to. I’ve learned about keeping kosher and have learned about the Jewish holidays.  I’ve heard interesting stories such as Moses throwing wheat and turning it into spears and Oag the giant who was Abraham’s right hand man.

I like how the Rabbis at JFX care so much about kids learning while having fun.  If there’s a kid out there who’s unhappy at his/her Sunday school, then I know the place they should go!
