A PIT Comes Home
Dear Ruchi and Sruly:
I just had an unbelievable call today from my new study partner. She
called to introduce herself to me, and asked if I could stop by before
the beginning of JFX to meet. I told her that I work downtown but
could stop on my way home. When I asked her address, she told me
Blanche Road in Cleveland Heights. I then realized by the address that I knew this woman
because I lived on Powell Road, with adjacent backyards, until I was
five years old.

I asked this woman is she had sons named Gavriel and
Benzion, because I played with those boys every day and remembered
thinking when I was little how much fun it would be to live in a Jewishly observant
home.

The woman was amazed and confirmed that I was correct. She told me of the unfortunate passing of her son Gavriel, and asked if I would stop by today to
give her a hug and a kiss. I, of course, told her I would be there as
soon as I could leave work.

Life can be crazy.

PS Gavriel Klatzko was a classmate of Rabbi Koval's at the Hebrew Academy of Cleveland. He died at the age of 29 of a brain aneurysm while serving as rabbi at the Sunny Road Synagogue in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was a much-beloved person, and his warm love for his fellow Jew and his widespread spiritual influence are the by-products of the incredible home in which he was raised. The above story is yet another ripple effect of the Klatzko family warmth.
May it be a merit for the soul of Gavriel Eliyahu ben Naftali.
