Cease and Desist

by Ruchi
In truth, we've been much too busy to ramble.  Between arriving home in the wee hours Sunday morning, fitting in a bris, Sunday school, and a school dinner on Sunday, and then diving back into real life only to jump right into Purim - our life has been one long festive ramble!

But no matter how crazy life gets, whether for the good or bad, there is always one constant: Shabbos.  Shabbos is like a faithful friend that is always waiting there for you right on schedule.  It's a comfort and a surprise, all at the same time.

As the Jews built the Tabernacle so excitedly thousands of years ago, they were so thrilled and ecstatic.  They'd been redeemed miraculously from Egypt and received the Torah in a spectacular revelation.  Now they could finally serve God - but wait.  God said: Shabbat is coming.  Cease and desist, and just be with Me.

And they did.

This week as we recover from all the partying, Shabbos is waiting there for me.  I am so excited that it's a "Green Road Synagogue" Shabbat, and I invite you to share it with me.  Go ahead.  Cease and desist.  Work, errands, birthday parties, sports, social obligations, cleaning the house...it can all wait.

Be a faithful friend back to Shabbat.  Because, you know, to paraphrase a wise artist, it will be right there waiting for you.  Every week.  Come what may.
