"So, how does it feel to be 40?" I'm asked these days... "The same as it felt to be 39, I guess."
But, a few days ago someone made a comment to me that made me rethink my answer:
After a recent Bris I was talking to one of the baby's relatives who was visiting from California. She says to me: "Wow, Rabbi, I see you're great with kids. Do you have any grandkids of your own?" Not kids, GRANDKIDS! Ok, I told myself: It's the silver hair... (It's supposed to look distinguished!) She's from California... :) Whatever...
Let's face it. We live in a youth-dominated society. Whoever is marketing our commercials seems to know that. If it will make you appear, act or feel young, it sells...
Does the Torah have a secret fountain of youth? YES!
What is it? Stay tuned for a special session on this topic at our upcoming Shabbaton entitled: "Headed For Mid-Life Crisis: What's your personal mission statement?"
